The UK steadily gets up to 3,500 visa applications on a daily basis from Indians as the 12th ICC World Cup draws near which will be held in England and Wales and will run from the 30th of May 30 to the 14th of July, 2019. According to the British High Commission (BHC), the surge in visa applications is more than usual.
The BHC also anticipates that up to 80,000 Indians will be traveling to the UK in summer. This record far surpasses the usual traffic of visitors coming to the country from India, including those who were on tour in the UK during previous games.
Based on the trends, the BHC has said that India is 'extremely likely' to be the country with the highest record of travelers coming to the UK for the World Cup. The conclusion was made based on the flight connections between the two countries, the high number of Indians who love the sport and the size of the market.
The cricket world cup is responsible for the spike in traffic
A spokesman of the BHC said that asides from the fact that traffic of visitors from India coming to the UK bumps significantly during summer, the demand for the UK visa is even higher this time and this can be attributed to the cricket World Cup coming up. The peak travel season of visitors from India is between April and July, which gives 100% — 150% of visa requests, which is higher than the record in off-peak seasons.
The spokesman went further to reveal that the UK's visa services
partner has processed more than 200,000 visa applications from India between January and April this year. There were over 132,000 visa applications from India in March and April alone. This figure represents 65% of the total visa applications submitted at the visa partner firm between January and April from countries all over the world.
