Getting a UK Spouse Visa Keeps Getting Harder

The process of obtaining a spouse visa in the UK has continued to maintain its tedious and tiring reputation. It is common knowledge that spouse visa applications record the highest refusal rates despite its high costs. Its strict visa requirements have made many families resort to technology to stay in touch as the Home Office seems determined and resolute to keep families apart. Expats looking to bring their families to the UK or start a family there have come to realize that the visa route is a huge challenge for many and will not be easy to overcome. At the moment, the minimum income requirement for those applying for this visa stands at £18,600. For one child, it tops £3,800 and an extra £2,400 for each additional child. Full Fact, a fact-checking organization, has revealed that about 41 percent of people living in Britain do not earn up to that level of income to bring their husband or wife to the UK. Those that are lucky enough to cross the income hurdle are still confronted with another challenge, which is the ‘genuine relationship’ test. This is a meticulous test conducted by the Home Office to ascertain how legitimate marriage is. The applicants are required to submit an array of documents so that caseworkers could assess then to detect fraud. Missing the visa interview could disqualify an applicant Despite the lengthy scrutiny of these documents, genuine couples are still refused visas and are thus, denied the experience of a family life which is a human right. Another family visa regulation was released in March, which stated that the Secretary of State reserved the right to completely deny a family visa application if the concerned applicant misses their interview. It wouldn't matter if they already met other visa requirements. Unsuccessful applicants still have an alternative in the work visa. The disadvantage here is the £30,000 minimum income threshold. By this, only those who have high-skilled jobs have a chance of getting it.
