The European Union has released a new publication on no-deal plans for Brexit thereby mounting pressure on the UK. One of the new no-deal plans includes the warning that UK citizens will only be able to make short visa-free travels to destinations in the EU if only the UK would reciprocate by making a policy that would allow citizens of EU member states to come into Britain without visas.
British Government prepares for better deals for Brexit
With the negotiations for Brexit seriously going on, the British government
is working round the clock to ensure that a summit is held this November. There are some other preparations the government is making such as matters relating to residency visa, customs, climate policy, air transport, and the transfer of personal information.
More details of the contingency plans published by the EU include a proposal that lets UK citizens
stay for up to 90 days in any EU member-state
without visas. This proposal however, will only come into effect if the United Kingdom makes the same provision for EU countries. Again, the 90-day proposed stay must be within a period of 180 days.
A warning from the vice president of the European Commission, Frans Timmermans says that they were going to do to UK exactly what the UK does to them. The commission issued a statement saying that it does not matter whether they will strike a deal with the United Kingdom before they leave on March 29, 2019, because there would still be basic changes in the running of businesses in a new environment. The withdrawal of UK will, with no doubt, cause a disruption in the flow of business supply chains so much that even the contingency plans will not effectively address them.
