Canada's Express Entry which handles the many applicants for three of Canada's federal immigration program for high-skilled applicants sent out a record-breaking total of 89,800 invitations to apply for permanent residence in Canada. This marks 2018 as the year with the highest record of invitations issued in one single year since the introduction of the program in January 2015. In 2017, the number of Invitations to Apply — ITAs for short — set a record with 86,023 invitations. With this year's record, it is most likely that by next year, another record will be set with a higher number of invitations. These 3 programs under the management of the Express Entry system are the Canadian Experience Class (CEC) Federal Skilled Trades Class (FSTC) and Federal Skilled Workers Class (FSWC). These programs are set to have an admission target with an increase of 6,500 by 2019. By 2020 again, it is expected to rise by an additional 4,400. It is clear that before these immigration targets can be reached, the number of ITAs must be increased.
