Canada to Welcome over 1 Million New Immigrants

Plans to increase the nation’s population, for the next 3 years, by addition of a million new permanent immigrants, have been made by Canada’s Parliament. This increase is nearly one percent of the yearly population in the country. In 2017, more than 286, 000 permanent residents were welcomed in the country, and it is projected that the number will reach 350,000 this year. This was reported by the CNN. On Thursday, Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), Ahmed Hussen expressed his thanks to the newcomers in the country, claiming that the country was pleasant as it has developed to be strong and vibrant.

Government is excited

Canada’s Minister of Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship, Mr. Ahmed Hussen, who is also an immigrant from Somalia, said the increasing population will help in increasing the Labor force of the country. He also said that with the current aging population, being on the high side in the country, and the birthrate is on the low side, this new population will help raise the country’s population. He said that while other western countries, including the USA, are using strict immigration policies, Canada is being more friendly to its new residents. The protection of its refugees is the country’s most dedicated duty. As reported by the UN Refugee Agency, the level of refugees in the country as of 2017 was the first of its kind and is still increasing. A pledge of $5.6 million has been made by the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada, to aid global resettlement initiatives.
